In a frightening incident in Florida, a 12-year-old child narrowly escaped serious injury when a man, allegedly driving while intoxicated, crashed into the child's room on Thursday night. Cape Coral Police, who arrived on the scene, detained the chauffeur, a 64-year-old man named George Henry King. According to neighbours who witnessed the incident, the child suffered only minor cuts and bruises.
Photographs from the scene, taken by a neighbour named Suzanne Stocker, there is a large hole in the side of the house, with cement and other debris scattered around the child's bedroom. According to Stoker, the driver pulled out of the driveway onto the opposite side of the road and drove in reverse, hitting the house with enough force to leave skid marks on the roadway.
The incident could have been much worse, Stoker noted, as the child's sibling had previously slept in a bed that was against the same wall that the driver had breached. Fortunately, the child's wounds were not serious, and the driver was charged with several charges of drunken driving, as well as material damage and bodily harm.
King was charged with DUI and 2 charges of DUI with bodily injury and property damage, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office logs.
