On the early morning of March 22, a truck driver survived a dangerous crash off of an interstate near the Flagstaff area of Arizona. Summit Fire and Medical Services reacted to a call of a barrier failure on I-40 at mile marker 211 about 4:30 a.m. on March 22. Upon arrival, first rescuers were met with a startling sight: a van that had come off the highway and driven a considerable distance down a causeway. Fire officials present at the scene noted that while there were no wounds this time, this incident serves as a reminder of the risks that come with driving on soggy highways.
“It is a great reminder that although the highways are watery and not icy, they still present a danger to motorists who are driving too fast or that lose bearings. Please lower your speed and be aware of the conditions you travel in,” authorities told us.
It's not uncommon for accidents like these to occur, especially on highways where speeds are high, and conditions can change quickly. However, by staying alert and driving cautiously, we can all work together to minimize the risks of driving on wet or slippery roads.
It's important to remember that we all share the road, and it's up to each of us to do our part in keeping ourselves and others safe while we travel. So please, take the time to slow down and stay aware of your surroundings the next time you're behind the wheel.
