A 26-year-old woman was wounded Wednesday in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and a suspected shooter was found dead by law enforcement in a home after a five-hour standoff. According to Cannon Falls police, the first call for help came in shortly before noon, and they were able to evacuate the injured woman from the home and take her to the hospital.
During the standoff, which lasted five hours, an armored truck was visible through the first floor window of the house. Just after 5 p.m., a SWAT team wearing helmets and body armor entered the house, where they found the suspected shooter, a 25-year-old man, dead. No word yet on the woman's condition.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation of the incident. No further details about the events leading up to the shooting or the motives of the suspected shooter have yet been released.
