A quiet day in Beltrami County turned to chaos when a dog attacked a 3-year-old child playing in the yard with his mom. According to Beltrami County police, the attack happened when the dog entered the yard and began attacking the child. The mother tried to intervene, but the dog was too strong and the kid was seriously injured.

Medical services were quickly arrived at the scene. Beltrami County deputies, as well as Litch Lake Tribal Police and the Litch Lake Ambulance, arrived at the 17000 block of Mission Rd SE, Ten Lake Township, Cass Lake, MN, at about 9:42 a.m. The child was immediately transported to Cass Lake Indian Health Services Hospital for emergency care. The kid was later airlifted to a clinic in Fargo for further medical attention.

Litch Lake Police Department officers and a Beltrami County Sheriff's Deputy located the dog that attacked the kid, and the animal was taken into custody by Litch Lake Tribal Police Department animal control officers. A decision has not yet been made regarding the dog, and it is unknown if the dog's owner will face any charges in connection with the attack.

The incident has shocked residents in the township, and they are calling for stricter dog regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future. Beltrami County deputies remind pet owners to keep their dogs on a leash and ensure they are properly trained and socialized so they do not pose a danger to others. This incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to raise awareness of the risks associated with dog attacks.
