A semi truck accident in Connecticut left the community shaken on Wednesday, May 24th, when the vehicle ended up in a nearby creek bed. The incident occurred around noon in New Hartford, and according to the Daily Sentinel, the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on Red Hill Road when the driver lost control at the intersection with Oneida Street. The truck then veered off the shoulder of the roadway, down a driveway, over an embankment, and into the nearby Sauquoit Creek. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, where they found the truck driver injured and in need of medical attention. The driver was rushed to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine what factors may have contributed to the accident. The incident has left many in the community concerned, as accidents involving large vehicles like semi trucks can be particularly dangerous and have the potential to cause significant damage and injuries.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and pay close attention to road conditions and traffic signals to help prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
