In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Fargo firefighters were able to quickly contain and limit the damage caused by two fires at Red River Commodities in north Fargo. According to Fire Department Battalion Chief Dane Carley, the first fire call came in at approximately 2:30 a.m., reporting an oven fire used to dry sunflowers and other specialty crops. The second fire occurred about an hour later, shooting flames out of a chimney. Using their expertise and specialized equipment, firefighters were able to use a ladder truck to hit the second fire with water without causing any additional damage to the chimney. Thanks to their quick response and effective actions, the fires were quickly brought under control and prevented from causing extensive damage to the processing plant.
