A fatal crash involving a truck and semi-truck during rush hour in South Carolina killed one person and injured another. According to authorities, the incident happened about 4:40 p.m. April 27 on I-85 near Blacksburg, South Carolina. Truck driver Timothy Antonio McNeil, 25, was traveling southbound on I-85 at milepost 106 when traffic slowed due to a previous fatal accident on the highway. When the box truck came to a stop, a southbound semi-truck struck it. McNeil died at the scene, and the passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler described the accident as a horrific incident in which the semi-truck dragged the box truck several hundred feet before the driver realized he was under it. The impact from the collision was so severe that the truck driver had no chance of surviving. Authorities have not yet released any information about the identity of the semi-truck driver or the cause of the accident.
