Officials have recently revealed the identity of a male resident of Grand Forks who tragically lost his life during a shooting incident over the weekend. Dwight Cross, who was 53 years old at the time, was allegedly shot down by 24-year-old Javon Lowery after an altercation between the two escalated in intensity.

From sources close to the investigation, it has been reported that Cross and Lowery were engaged in a heated verbal dispute when Cross pulled out what appeared to be a firearm. Lowery, who is also a native of Grand Forks, responded by drawing his own handgun and firing at the older man. Sadly, Cross was hit in the chest and passed away shortly thereafter due to the injuries sustained from the gunshot wound.

Further information regarding the weapon that Cross was in possession of at the time of the incident has also come to light. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the supposed firearm was actually a pellet-style rifle, not an actual gun. The findings are likely to play a significant role in the ongoing investigation and could potentially lead to charges being filed against Cross for brandishing a weapon in a public place.

The tragic incident has left the community of Grand Forks in shock, with many expressing their condolences to Cross's family and friends. Lowery, who is currently in police custody, is expected to face charges of second-degree murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. The case is being closely monitored by law enforcement officials, who have vowed to bring justice to the victim and his family.
