The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently intrigued the public by sharing some interesting photos of vehicles carrying some pretty unusual loads. On Thursday, August 17, CHP Buttonwillow officers posted several images on social media that depicted car carriers traveling along Interstate 5 (I-5). Curious about the nature of this unusual sighting, CHP officers expressed their curiosity in a statement, "While on patrol this morning.... one of our troopers noticed several car haulers laden with some weird vehicles moving north on Interstate 5. I wonder what they are? Where are they headed?" It has now been confirmed that the unique vehicles being transported are none other than the eye-catching all-electric Cybertrucks, as reported by InsideEVs.
Pictures provided by CHP show at least 1 truck carefully transporting the Cybertrucks. Interestingly, this truck is a "not for hire" Peterbilt, which has the Tesla Inc. name and corresponding U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) number painted on it. A quick visit to the FMCSA SAFER site shows that the Tesla Inc. fleet consists of 291 trucks and has 266 drivers.
The release of the much-anticipated Tesla Semi took place back last year, and several vehicles were delivered to leading beverage company PepsiCo in early December 2022. Tesla's entry into the realm of commercial electric cars has certainly attracted attention, and the appearance of unique cyber trucks on highway highways only adds to the excitement surrounding Tesla's innovative offerings.
While enthusiasts and onlookers ponder the purpose and destination of this intriguing procession, the California Highway Patrol has released these exciting images, sparking further intrigue and speculation among the public.
