Arkansas drivers have been warned to expect traffic delays as a megagrain weighing more than 600,000 pounds moves through the state. Website The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) and the Arkansas Highway Police have issued a statement urging drivers to exercise caution and patience as the cargo travels from the Port of Crossett to Gum Springs between May 10 and 15.

According to ARDOT, the shipment in question is a firing kiln imported from Italy and requires special transportation because of its size and weight. Barnhart Crane and Rigging, based in Memphis, will be responsible for transporting the cargo, which is expected to move at 5 to 20 miles per hour.

Transporting such a massive load requires careful planning and execution to ensure the safety of the load, the carrier's crew and other motorists on the road. Furnace's journey through Arkansas serves as a reminder of the importance of proper planning and execution when transporting oversized cargo.

While hauling a mega-load can cause disruptions and delays, drivers must prioritize safety and use caution when traveling along affected routes. Arkansas Highway Police will closely monitor the haul, and drivers are encouraged to follow their instructions and keep a safe distance from the load.

As Arkansas continues to grow and develop, it is important that the infrastructure and transportation meet the changing needs of the state. Oversize trucking is one of the most important aspects of this development, and it is important to ensure that such transportation is done safely and efficiently while minimally disrupting daily life.
