Two crashes involving five vehicles occurred Monday morning in a Mississippi construction zone. The crashes occurred Aug. 14 on Interstate 10, in Harrison County, just west of Menge Avenue. According to WLOX News, the first collision occurred when a pickup truck that was stopped due to roadwork was unexpectedly rear-ended by a semi-truck on the east side of Interstate 10. This collision caused the second pickup truck to crash into the back of the semi-truck and end up underneath it. Tragically, the driver of the second pickup truck died as a result of the crash.

While rescuers were reaching the scene of the accident, traveling from the opposite westbound side of the I-10 freeway, another catastrophic incident occurred. A pickup truck traveling at full speed slammed into a first aid vehicle, causing it to flip over and come to a stop on a grassy shoulder. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Unfortunately, no other details about these accidents have been released at this time. Authorities are warning drivers who have yet to travel through the area to be extremely vigilant and be fully prepared to stop.

The events that occurred on that fateful Monday morning serve as a stark reminder of the risks inherent in construction zones. It is a clear call to all motorists to prioritize safety and be extremely careful when passing through such areas, not only for their own well-being, but also for the well-being of other road users.
