Early Wednesday afternoon, a mobile home caught fire in Longview, Washington, resulting in the tragic death of one man. According to the Longview Fire Department, they received a report of explosions and strong smoke emanating from a motor house in the 1000 block of California Way. Fire crew came within minutes of the report and located the motor house completely enveloped in blaze behind one of the businesses.

Using water, fire crews rapidly extinguished the fire, allowing them to frisk the car. The body of a man who had died from the fire was found inside. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by police and fire departments, but it is known that the smoke alarm in the motor home was not working.

The troop chief stressed the importance of checking recreational car residences for working smoke detectors, especially now that people are getting their cars ready for summer trips. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the fire was able to be contained in the motor home, preventing it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need for caution and responsibility in all areas of life. Let's honor the man who died in this fire by committing to responsible and safe behavior, including ensuring our residences have working smoke alarms.
