The recent collision between a semi and a pickup truck in western Cass County highlights the importance of staying focused while driving. The incident occurred north of Embden and was reported by a passerby who witnessed the crash. The pickup and semi, which was pulling a trailer, were both found in a field. The driver of the pickup had to be removed by first responders and fire crews and was taken to a hospital in Fargo with non-life threatening wounds.

The investigation revealed that the pickup was turning onto a field access road when it was hit from behind by the semi. Although the semi driver was not hurt, he was cited for distracted driving. The collision occurred on Thursday at around 1:20 p.m. and deputies were aided by Casselton Fire and Ambulance, the Alice Fire Dept., and Buffalo’s Quick Response Unit.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being aware of your surroundings while driving, especially when operating large vehicles like semis. It's crucial to take precautions to avoid accidents and injuries, as accidents can happen at any time. By doing our part to stay safe on the roads, we can help prevent these types of collisions from occurring.

We must remember that distracted driving is a serious issue that can have severe consequences. It's important to stay focused on the road and avoid distractions like texting or using a phone while driving.
