Tragedy struck near Tif River Falls, Minnesota on Saturday when a fatal crash occurred on Highway 59. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 86-year-old Oliver Kimbrough, a resident of Oaklee, died after colliding with another vehicle driven by 66-year-old Dale Brekke, also a resident of Oaklee.
Both Brekke and his passenger, 57-year-old Shelley Brekke, were injured in the crash and were taken to Sanford Medical Centres in Fargo and Tif River Falls respectively. Fortunately, the medical team assessed their injuries as non-life-threatening and promptly began treatment.
The accident occurred due to adverse weather conditions on the highway. There was sleet and ice on the highway at the time of the accident, making it difficult for drivers to control their vehicles.
The tragedy is a grim reminder of how hazardous winter driving conditions can be, especially for older drivers. The Minnesota State Patrol is advising all drivers to exercise caution and be extra vigilant behind the wheel in such weather conditions. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Oliver Kimbrough's family and friends during this difficult time. We hope that the injured passengers, Dale Brekke and Shelley Brekke, make a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.
