Illinois State Police were called to the southbound lanes of I-94 near Dundee Road at approximately 12:30 PM CDT after a three-vehicle collision left one driver dead and forced a full closure of the roadway.

Incident Details

Time & Place: Around 12:30 PM on July 8, 2025, at milepost 30 (Dundee Road / Route 41).

Vehicles Involved: Three cars were found at the scene; one sustained severe off-road damage.

Fatality:Martin Maldonado-Velazquez (60) of Waukegan was rushed to Endeavor Health Highland Park Hospital, where he succumbed to blunt-force injuries.

Ongoing Investigation: Troopers remain on scene as the investigation continues.

Traffic Impact
