The shooting victim, previously unidentified, was identified by police on Wednesday as Henry Gonzalez Carmona, also 28 and a resident of Vancouver, Washington. The incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, when a group of men got into a confrontation at the Safeway shop, located at 6701 East Mill Plain Boulevard. Two men walked out of the shop and the suspects began shooting at them. Gonzalez Carmona was among the victims who got into their vehicle and attempted to drive away from the scene. However, the suspects followed them and continued shooting at them as they approached a nearby hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Gonzalez was pronounced dead, and an autopsy showed that he died from a gunshot wound to the torso and his death was ruled a homicide. In addition to Gonzalez Carmona, three other people were injured in the incident: a 42-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman. The Vancouver Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and there will be no further information at this time. No other arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The incident has raised concerns about gun violence and the need for stricter gun laws. There has been a surge in gun violence in the US in recent years, prompting many to call for stricter gun control measures to address the problem. Despite the debate around gun laws, such incidents continue to occur, causing heartache and devastation to the families of the victims.
