A tragic multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of a truck driver in Tipton County, Indiana on June 5th. The Indiana State Police (ISP) recently released information on the incident, which happened shortly after noon on State Road 28. According to the ISP, Travis Kramer, 40, and Shaun McCord, 42, were both driving pickup trucks hauling anhydrous tanks westbound on SR 28. At the same time, a 17-year-old driver in a Volkswagen was also westbound on SR 28, attempting to pass the 2 pickups. Meanwhile, a 2014 Peterbilt driven by Matthew Marley, 57, was eastbound on SR 28.

As the Volkswagen tried to pass the 2 vehicles, it sideswiped Kramer's pickup and the Peterbilt, causing Marley to lose control and cross the centerline, colliding head-on with McCord's pickup. The Peterbilt ultimately came to rest lying on top of McCord's pickup north of the road.

McCord was airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the 17-year-old was transported for treatment of minor injuries. Tragically, Marley passed away at the scene of the accident.

The ISP has stated that alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor in the crash. However, the cause of the accident remains under investigation. This devastating incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information to come forward and assist them with their investigation.

The loss of life in this accident is a tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Matthew Marley. It is crucial that we all remain vigilant and cautious when operating heavy machinery and driving on the road.
