Tragedy struck northeast Portland Sunday night as a vehicle struck a pedestrian on northbound Interstate 5. The incident occurred at approximately 10:41 p.m., and police were soon called to the scene. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the victim was deceased, but his identity has not yet been released. According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation. However, no other details have yet been released by law enforcement.

To thoroughly investigate the incident, the northbound I-5 freeway was closed and all traffic was diverted to the eastbound I-84 freeway. This has caused significant delays and inconvenience to motorists in the area. The Portland Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit is currently seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information that may assist in the investigation.
