A nasty incident in downtown Portland on Friday resulted in Hillsboro resident Travis Sadler pleading guilty to a brutal knife attack on 2 men. Sadler pleaded guilty to 2 counts of assault, while charges of tried murder and illegal use of a weapon were dropped during the trial. The crime took place in the early morning hours of October 3, 2020, at the intersection of Southwest 13th and Columbia streets, where Sadler committed his violent acts. According to Portland Police, one of the victims suffered a deep cut to her arm, and another victim had her ear lacerated by Sadler's knife.

Responding quickly to a distress call, law enforcement officers arrived on the scene and were confronted with a horrifying sight. They found Sadler attempting to inflict bodily harm with a knife on other people, indicating the potential for further harm had they not intervened in a timely manner.

In a subsequent trial held that same Friday, the judge announced Sadler's sentence. The sentence imposed on him was just over three years in prison with five years probation. The decision was made to balance punitive measures with the possibility of rehabilitation.

The guilty plea and subsequent sentencing serves as a reminder of the dire consequences of such violent acts, as well as the importance of swift justice in ensuring the safety of the community. The authorities will continue to make every effort to maintain public safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
