Tragedy unfolded in Cape Meares on Saturday morning, as a shooting incident claimed the life of a Portland male. The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office swiftly responded to the scene, located on Fourth Street Northwest, following a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a 47-year-old man from the Portland area, indicating a possible homicide. In an effort to bring justice to the victim and shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident, the major crimes team was called in to investigate. During the course of their inquiry, they identified a person of interest, 31-year-old Jonathan Morriss from Portland. Morriss was subsequently taken into custody, although on unrelated charges, and transported to the Tillamook County jail.
