A birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama turned into a tragedy on Saturday night when gunfire left four people dead and multiple others injured. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the 200 block of Broadnax Street, according to Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. During a press conference on Sunday morning, Burkett stated, "There were four lives tragically lost in this incident and there's been a multitude of injuries." The community of Dadeville is mourning the loss of those who were killed in the shooting. Dadeville Chief Jonathan L. Floyd was emotional as he spoke at the news conference, struggling to regain his composure. The suspect and motive for the shooting are not yet known, but police have stated that there are no public safety concerns at this time.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Tallapoosa County school system has announced that counseling will be available for students at the schools on Monday. Superintendent Raymond C. Porter expressed his condolences and emphasized the importance of providing support to students during this difficult time. President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting and the White House has offered its support and monitoring of the situation. Local officials and law enforcement have also been in touch with the White House to coordinate efforts to address the aftermath of this tragic event.

As the investigation continues, many questions remain unanswered. However, one thing is clear: the community of Dadeville will need time to heal and come together in the wake of this devastating loss of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.
