Tragedy struck on San Diego Beach on 11 March when two vessels approached the area, causing one of them to overturn. Eight victims died. The search for another person continues. A lady on one of the skiffs phoned police late Saturday night to inform them that another skiff had tipped over in the swells of Blacks Beach. The U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Richard Bram said the female said there had been 15 people in the flipping skiff.
Lifeguards fished 8 dead people from the water, but dense mist made it difficult to find more survivors.
Illegal border entries have risen sharply during the Biden administration, with numerous refugees surrendering to Border Patrol agents and being let go to the US to be tried in court. Recall that migrants are prohibited from seeking asylum. This tragic case highlights the dangers of human smuggling operations and the risks posed to migrants attempting to cross the US border. The loss of life underscores the need to intensify efforts to combat human smuggling and address the root causes of migration in countries of origin.
The ongoing search for more victims is a reminder of the impact that illegal border crossings can have on individuals and families, as well as on society as a whole. This tragic event will be mourned by many and should serve as a call to action for all those involved in the complex issue of migration.
