On Thursday night, a tragedy occurred in the state of New Jersey: A dump truck fell into a river, leading to hours of painstaking surgery to recover it. The heartbreaking incident occurred on August 10 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Fairfield Township, New Jersey. According to preliminary reports from the New Jersey State Police, it was determined that a southbound Kenworth T880 truck driving southbound left the highway to the right. With force and speed, the truck slammed into a guardrail and eventually fell into the depths of the Cohansey River from the impact.

At the fateful moment of the accident, there were two people in the ill-fated dump truck. Fortunately, a woman passenger was able to get out of the partially flooded vehicle, where she bravely waited for the arrival of rescuers. The driver of the dump truck, unfortunately, was never located, so NBC Philadelphia emergency officials kept a complex and somber report on the search efforts. While rescuers were tirelessly scouring the area for signs of the missing dump truck driver, the passenger was rushed to a local hospital for further medical attention. The public anxiously awaited news of the driver's fate, and hours passed in anxious anticipation. Unfortunately, the search ended with the discovery of the lifeless body of 60-year-old Matthew Jacobs, Jr. found near the waterline, marking a disastrous end to a high stakes operation.
