Authorities are currently investigating the cause of a devastating house fire that broke out in the early hours of Thursday morning in northeast Portland. The incident occurred at a residence situated on Northeast 65th Avenue, close to Mason Street, at approximately 1:15 a.m. According to Portland Fire Rescue (PF&R), the fire originated in a closet on the second floor before rapidly spreading to engulf the entire room.

We took this video from KPTV FOX 12 Oregon YouTube Channel.

PF&R officials have revealed that the home was excessively cluttered, which posed significant challenges for firefighters attempting to combat the blaze. Additionally, the emergency response was further impeded by a sizable hole located in the backyard. These factors combined to hinder the efficiency of the rescue operation.

Fortunately, no individuals sustained any injuries during the incident. Regrettably, one pet tragically lost its life in the fire. PF&R has confirmed that as a result of the extensive damage caused by the fire, five residents and two pets have been displaced from their home.

Efforts are currently underway to determine the exact cause of this devastating incident. Investigators are meticulously examining the scene for any potential clues that may shed light on the origin and circumstances surrounding the outbreak of the fire. PF&R is working diligently to ensure that a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to this tragic incident is obtained.

The affected residents are receiving support from local authorities and community organizations to help them navigate this challenging situation. Efforts are being made to provide temporary housing and other necessary resources to assist them in this difficult time.
