The Portland Police Bureau has identified the two people who died in a tragic car crash that occurred June 4. The driver of the car was Larry A. Ayala-Valdes, 22, of Milwaukee, and the passenger was Adrian Gama, 22, of Clackamas County. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday, June 4, when Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a rollover accident at Southeast Water Avenue and Southeast Belmont Street. Unfortunately, both occupants of the black 2003 Mercedes were found dead on arrival.

A preliminary investigation by Portland police revealed that Ayala-Valdes was driving eastbound on the Morrison Bridge when he hit a barrier, causing the vehicle to flip over and fall into the street below. There were no other parties involved in the accident, and fortunately no one was injured. The Portland Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team arrived on the scene in response to the incident and conducted a thorough investigation. The bridge was closed in both directions until about 8:00 a.m., when the scene investigation was completed.
According to the Portland Police Department, speed and alcohol were considered the main contributing factors to the accident.
