On Friday night, a man lost his life and a woman sustained injuries after a shooting incident in northwest Portland, as reported by the Portland Police Bureau. The incident occurred at Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest Irving Street, and the police responded to the scene just before 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the man and the woman had been shot. Despite the best efforts of the officers and paramedics, the man died at the scene, while the woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, the woman is expected to pull through.

According to the police, the suspect fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet. Unfortunately, the police did not release any description of the suspect. The homicide detectives are currently investigating the incident, and anyone with information that can help with the investigation is encouraged to reach out to detective Erik Kammerer or detective Mike Schmerber via email or phone.

This tragic incident is the 25th homicide in Portland in 2023, with 23 of those being caused by gunfire. The community is left in shock and grief as they come to terms with the devastating impact of this senseless act of violence. The police are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
