Tragedy struck the Portland Lloyd District neighborhood on Friday evening, as a man lost his life to a fatal shooting. The Portland Police Bureau received reports of the gunfire at approximately 9:45 p.m., prompting an immediate response to Northeast Sixth Avenue and Northeast Holiday Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with a serious gunshot wound and attempted to administer first aid while awaiting emergency medical services. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain as the man passed away on the scene.

The suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting had fled the scene by the time police arrived, and no arrests have been made thus far. The Portland Police Bureau has launched an investigation into the incident and is appealing to anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Northeast Holiday Street has been closed between Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Seventh Avenue, while Northeast Sixth Avenue has been closed between Northeast Hassalo street and Northeast Pacific Street. These closures are expected to remain in place until the investigation is concluded, and the area is deemed safe for the public.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing issue of gun violence in the United States, and the need for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent such senseless acts from occurring.
