Tragedy struck over the weekend in Hillsborough County, Fla: A fatal two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a truck driver. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, May 6, around 2:40 a.m. on US-41 near Bloomingdale Avenue. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the driver of a 2020 Kia Stinger made a rear-end collision with a gas tanker, causing the truck to explode and crash into a pole. The Kia vehicle veered off the roadway and stopped in a grassy area, leaning on its roof. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck, a 49-year-old man from Alabama, did not survive the crash.

The driver of the Kia, a 23-year-old Florida resident, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and FHP encourages anyone with information about the accident to come forward.
