One of the biggest challenges in completing the project was dealing with the rainy weather that has hit the region in recent weeks. To keep the pavement dry and safe for drivers, engineers brought in the NASCAR Raceway Jet Dryer to speed up the drying process. This innovative solution proved successful, and the road was able to open on time despite the bad weather.
The road opening was celebrated as a moment of civic pride for Philadelphia and Pennsylvania residents. Attorney General Josh Shapiro spoke to reporters, expressing pride in the community's ability to come together and make great strides. "This was a moment of civic pride for Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. We all came together and proved that we can do great things in Pennsylvania again," Shapiro said, as reported by WGAL 8.
Shortly after Shapiro's speech, police cars and fire trucks crossed the north side of the newly paved section of road in a symbolic baptismal ceremony marking the official opening of the road to traffic.
Although the temporary roadway will serve as a vital link for drivers in the coming months, engineers have already begun the process of developing a permanent solution for the deteriorating section of I-95. The process will likely take several years, but the opening of the temporary roadway is an important step forward in ensuring the safety and mobility of drivers in the region.
Overall, the restoration of the blighted section of I-95 is a significant achievement for the community and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the workers and engineers involved in the project. As the region continues to rebuild and rebuild, this moment of pride and unity will serve as a powerful symbol of the resilience and strength of the people of Pennsylvania.
