In a show of solidarity and support, landlords of a former Kmart store destroyed by fire are assisting area residents in clearing the debris left behind after the fire. After successfully completing fire debris cleanup efforts at nearby schools and parks, their efforts are now focused on helping residents impacted by the devastating incident. Starting Friday, more than 20 crews from Prologis, a well-known real estate firm, will begin surveying the impacted neighborhoods, prioritizing the areas most impacted by the blaze. Their primary task is to remove visible fire debris from lawns and shrubbery while actively engaging with residents to provide direct assistance.

Given that not all residents may be present during the cleanup, notices will be left in the affected areas with information about the fire debris cleanup initiative and an email address to contact for assistance in this matter. Prologis is committed to ensuring that all members of the community receive the support they need during this difficult time.
The fire that engulfed the abandoned Kmart store at the intersection of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard broke out on the morning of July 19, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. However, the latest findings from the Environmental Protection Agency brought some relief: multiple samples showed no evidence of asbestos contamination.
Prologis, out of a sense of responsibility and concern for the well-being of the community, invites anyone with questions or in need of assistance to contact them directly. They can be reached via email at kmartfireneighborhoodcleanup@gmail.com or by phone at 503-276-7389.
This proactive and compassionate response from landlords and Prologis serves as a beacon of hope in the midst of adversity, demonstrating the power of community support in difficult times.
