Cambria was hit hard by the recent mega storm that swept over the region on Thursday evening. The atmospheric-river storm brought heavy rain, which amounted to nearly 7 inches in some of the town's gardens. More rain fell on hills and along creek roads.

We took this video from KSBY News YouTube Channel.

According to the San Luis Obispo County 24-hour rainfall count, Rocky Butte received 10.4 inches of rainfall from Thursday afternoon to Friday evening, while the official meter at the corner of Main Street and Santa Rosa Creek Road recorded 5.19 inches. Nevertheless, the area is not out of the woods yet, as another light rain is expected on Saturday, with a short break on Sunday and a new storm forecast for early next week.

The downpour came in waves, some of them prolonged downpours, leading to overlapping emergencies across Cambria on Friday. These included landslides, flooding, evacuations, sewage spills and even a call for help for a man who was reportedly kayaking in the water of a flooded stream.

These events were just some of the emergencies faced by residents, businesses and rescuers during the storm. Flooding from the Santa Rosa Creek, which runs through the city center and other parts of the city, triggered many emergencies.

The National Weather Service has warned that areas affected by the storm remain at risk of flash flooding and landslides. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to stay safe.

In the meantime, businesses are working to repair damage caused by the storm and emergency responders are preparing for the possibility of more severe weather in the coming days.

Despite the challenges Cambria has faced, residents have shown amazing resilience and rallied to support each other during this difficult time. The support from residents and volunteers is inspiring and residents are determined to come back stronger than ever after the recent storm.
