In a harrowing incident that unfolded on Saturday night in northwest Portland, a man was apprehended by the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) after attempting to strike an officer with his vehicle. The PPB reported that the incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m., when an officer in a police vehicle noticed a black 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix heading straight towards him. In a split-second decision, the suspect abruptly hit the brakes, narrowly avoiding a collision. Undeterred, the driver maneuvered his car in a circle and made another attempt to ram into the officer's vehicle.

Recognizing the escalating danger, the officer quickly called for backup and attempted to create distance between himself and the suspect. However, the suspect persisted in his aggressive pursuit, his tires screeching as he made erratic starts, stops, and turns. Despite the officer's best efforts, he was unable to bring the suspect to a halt, prompting other officers to join in the pursuit.

As the chase ensued, law enforcement utilized spike strips to deflate the suspect's tires in a bid to immobilize him. Eventually, at the intersection of Northwest Naito Parkway and Northwest Couch Street, officers managed to corner and block the suspect's vehicle. Desperate to escape, the suspect made one final attempt to flee but found himself trapped and ultimately surrendered to the authorities.

The individual responsible for this dangerous incident has been identified as 27-year-old Adolfo Beltran-Megia Jr. Following his arrest, he was promptly transported to the Multnomah County jail where he awaits further legal proceedings.
