A devastating house fire broke out on Hillcrest Way in Forest Grove Friday afternoon, leaving four people homeless and taking three to the hospital. The fire was reported just after 4 p.m. and Forest Grove Fire Rescue (FGF&R) immediately arrived on the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found the front entrance to the house on fire, with the fire quickly spreading to the attic. The brave firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames, starting at the entrance and then moving into the attic. They had to lower the ceiling to gain access to the attic space and extinguish the remnants of the fire.

Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the living quarters, but the water and smoke damage was significant. One person from the home and two neighbors were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but information on their condition has not yet been released. The Red Cross is assisting four adults who were forced to leave the home because of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have started on the outside of the house near the front door. FGF&R is working hard to determine the cause and prevent similar incidents in the future.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and prevention. It is critical for homeowners to take steps to prevent fires, such as maintaining smoke detectors and avoiding electrical overloads.
