In a shocking turn of events, a truck driver and his passenger were arrested in North Carolina after a train collided with their semi-truck. The incident took place in Wingate, North Carolina, around 5 p.m. on June 8. According to QC News, the semi-truck was transporting pallets of bricks when it got stuck on a set of railroad tracks at North Main Street. Unfortunately, before the driver could free the vehicle, a CSX train collided with the trailer. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the crash.

However, when police arrived on the scene, they discovered something much more alarming than a simple train vs. truck accident. Upon searching the semi-truck, police found cocaine, an open container of alcohol, marijuana, and "magic" mushrooms. As a result, truck driver Patrick Rainey and passenger Dandris Lakes were both arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and felony possession of a Schedule I drug.

While drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the train collision, it is still concerning that such substances were found in the truck's cab. It is unclear why the driver and passenger had these illegal substances in their possession, but it is fortunate that no one was hurt as a result of their reckless behavior.
