Early Monday morning, Portland Police officers responded to a shooting in the Laurelhurst neighborhood. Officers were in the area of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street when they heard gunshots. They quickly located the vehicle involved in the shooting and attempted to pull it over, but the driver fled, leading to a high speed chase. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed in the area of Southeast 40th Avenue and East Burnside, and the three suspects fled into the neighborhood. A perimeter was set up and a reverse 911 call told people to stay put. Police conducted a thorough search, including the use of drones and air support, and eventually found the suspects hiding in a backyard.

Three suspects were taken into custody and evidence of gunfire was found in the area of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact authorities.

This incident is a testament to the dedication and courage of police officers who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe. It also serves as a reminder that gun violence remains a serious problem in our community and that we must work together to find solutions that protect our citizens while respecting their rights.
