Police have announced that it has ID'd a person of interest in an armed vehicle theft that occurred on March 15. Police reported Carlos Sanchez is thought to be responsible for the incident after a vehicle was carjacked at about 4.20pm in Meinig Park in Sandy.

The hijacked auto, a gray Toyota Camry with Oregon number plate 381NBX, was later recovered close to the crossing of Van Fleet Avenue and Wolf Drive. Police tried to pull the auto over, but the driver got away. The chase was eventually called off because of the suspect's speedy driving and traffic jam on the road. The hijacked auto was most recently sighted close to the crossing of Highway 211 and Judd Road.

Further investigation by authorities revealed that Sanchez already knew the victim. The police department believes Sanchez, who has ties to Sandy and Lebanon, may still be in possession of the stolen vehicle and is likely in the Portland area.

Law enforcement officials have warned the public not to approach Sanchez if he is spotted, but to contact Clackamas County dispatch at (503) 655-8211. Authorities are urging anyone with any information about the case or Sanchez's whereabouts to report it as soon as possible.

This incident underscores the importance of remaining vigilant and immediately reporting any suspicious activity to authorities. The Sandy Police Department is making every effort to ensure that justice is served, and the public remains safe
