On March 14, 2023, a multi-vehicle crash was captured by Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras. A police officer was implicated in the incident and sustained serious wounds as a result of the collision.
According to the police report, the accident happened around 5am in Eagan, Minnesota. The police officer was driving on Interstate 35E northbound in the right lane with his emergency lights on while responding to an emergency call. Upon reaching the intersection with the median on Yankee Doodle Rd, the police officer tried to make a left turn and collided with a semi-truck traveling northbound. The patrol car then crashed into a third vehicle with its passenger side before coming to a stop in the middle lane.
As a result of the collision, Officer Cade Eggam, 22, suffered critical wounds and is currently in intensive care. His state has improved from critical to stable but he remains in hospital for further treatment, according to the latest information from the Egan Police Department.
A video of the accident has been released by Midwest Safety to give the public an idea of the seriousness of the accident. It serves as a reminder to drivers to exercise caution and follow the rules of the road, especially in emergency situations.
