In the early morning hours of May 19, a shocking incident occurred in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over 30 televisions were stolen from a parked semi-truck while chauffeur James Goldsmith was sound asleep. The theft happened around 1 a.m. in the 2700 block of Commerce Way, where Goldsmith had parked his truck a few feet from his destination.

We took this video from FOX 29 Philadelphia YouTube Channel.

The CBS reports that Goldsmith was awakened from his sleep by the motion of the truck. At first he didn't pay attention, thinking it was just the wind. However, he soon realized something was wrong when he felt motion again. "I continued to feel something moving," he says. "I kind of nodded off. I got up again and saw a pickup car parked behind me. I got up and said I put my box on. I better run over there or I might get hit or something. I told them I'd call the cops, and they drove off down the street."

Although cops quickly caught up with the pickup and busted the chauffeur, the stolen TVs were not anywhere to be seen. The accident is still being investigated, and no more info is available yet.

The accident underscores the growing problem of theft from parked vehicles, especially those carrying valuable cargo. Truckers like Goldsmith often have to park their vehicles in remote areas, making them vulnerable to opportunistic criminals. While police are doing their best to solve these crimes and bring those responsible to justice, it is important that truckers and other vehicle owners take steps to secure their cargo and prevent theft.

This incident also serves as a reminder of the importance of community and caring for each other. Goldsmith was fortunate to escape unscathed, but things could have turned out very differently if not for the bravery of the people who came to his aid and the quick action of the police. In times of crisis, it is important to unite and help fellow citizens in need.
