Three surfers tragically lost their lives while surfing near the town of Ensenada, sparking an investigation into their untimely deaths.
Brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, along with their friend Jack Carter, had set up camp approximately 60 miles south of Tijuana for a recreational getaway. The trio had been enjoying their time together, as evidenced by social media posts shared by Robinson during their hike. However, their idyllic retreat took a dark turn when the friends were discovered dead in a remote well, each with fatal gunshot wounds.
Law enforcement officials determined that the surfers had been approached by armed individuals with the intent of stealing their vehicle. The guys resisted the criminals and this was the cause of death. The scene of their campsite revealed signs of violence, with bloodstains, scattered belongings, and partially burned tents. The bodies of the friends were located several miles away from their campsite, hidden in a deep well that had been camouflaged with boards.
There are several people under suspicion at this point. Two individuals were arrested in possession of methamphetamine, while a woman was detained with a cellphone belonging to one of the victims. The authorities are actively interrogating the woman, as well as another man with a history of kidnapping convictions.
Despite the fact that Mexico has quite a few tourist spots, murders and kidnappings are very common there. Mexico ranks first in the world in the number of murders, and only 7% of murders are solved. The investigation into the deaths of these three surfers continues, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance and caution when traveling to Mexico.
For the first time in 20 years, Russia's main gas company posted a huge loss of about 6.9 billion dollars. However, analysts had expected a loss of 4.9 billion dollars. The main reason for this collosal loss was the lack of sales to Europe.
Historically, Europe has served as Gazprom's predominant export market; however, sales to the region have dwindled in the aftermath of the conflict in Ukraine, leading to a considerable decrease in revenues for the company.Due to the fact that Gazprom is one of the Kremlin's main companies, this attracted the attention of European countries, which is why Gazprom came under sanctions in 2023.
For a long time the company used its gas supplies to realize its political goals especially in countries like Ukraine and Moldova. Now because of the lack of deals with Europe, Gazprom is trying to actively increase supplies to India and China at a cheaper price. According to official statistics, Gazprom's supplies to Europe have decreased by 56% and now stand at 28.3 billion cubic meters.
Despite heavy losses for the company, Gazprom is actively investing in various sectors, including energy and infrastructure across Africa. Gazprom has signed agreements with many African countries to provide energy stability and technology. For a long time now, many analysts have noted that Russian companies have recently become more interested in energy projects in African countries.
