Greenlane, a truck fueling company, has recently been awarded a $15 million grant to establish a cutting-edge facility in Colton, California. With a primary focus on developing a comprehensive network of commercial fueling stations tailored for heavy-duty, battery-electric, and hydrogen-powered trucks throughout the United States and Canada. Situated at the strategic intersection of Interstates 215 and 10, the forthcoming facility in Colton is expected to commence operations in early 2025. Designed to cater to heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty zero-emission vehicles, the station will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable transportation solutions in the region.
The Colton site will be part of a network of charging stations along the entire length of I-15 in Southern California. The next two stations will be open by the end of 2025 in Barstow and Baker, California.

Recology CEO Sal Coniglio has announced the successful completion of a two-week trial of a hydrogen fuel cell garbage truck in North America. Developed in partnership with hydrogen fuel cell manufacturer Hyzon and New Way Trucks, the innovative vehicle is currently undergoing testing in various states across the US and Canada. The truck's first route was in San Francisco, and the truck was able to lift about 600 containers of household waste in a day. Feedback from the truck's drivers has been overwhelmingly positive, with reports of excellent performance and power from the vehicle. This successful trial comes as part of Recology's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. In 2008, the company set an ambitious target to transition its fleet of 2,600 vehicles to alternative fuel options.
Fast forward to today, and 84% of Recology's fleet comprises alternative fuel vehicles, including compressed natural gas and electric vehicles. This strategic shift has resulted in a significant reduction of the company's emissions by more than 77%. Looking ahead, Recology plans to continue utilizing the hydrogen fuel cell garbage truck in pilot programs through 2025. With a strong focus on innovation and environmental stewardship, Recology remains dedicated to driving positive change within the waste management industry.
