Uber Freight upgrades its TMS

Uber Freight has unveiled a comprehensive update to its transportation management system, aimed at enhancing efficiency and transparency in the supply chain. This update enables customers to track carriers with greater ease, resulting in a more streamlined and transparent process.

Key improvements included in the update consist of an updated landing page offering more detailed information, simplified dock scheduling features, and a more efficient load management experience. Additionally, enhanced financial tools have been integrated to provide carriers with improved visibility, forecasting capabilities, and streamlined payment processing. Furthermore, the update incorporates advancements in artificial intelligence and procurement tools to enhance overall operational efficiency.

$3 billion to produce components for electric vehicles

The Biden administration informed about a substantial investment of $3 billion in funding to support companies specializing in the production of materials and components for electric vehicles. This funding will be allocated to 25 projects across 14 states, including significant support for companies in Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, South Carolina, and Louisiana. The majority of the funding will be directed towards companies focusing on recycling lithium, graphite, and other essential materials and components used in electric vehicle batteries. Key projects include the development of large lithium mines in Nevada and North Carolina, the establishment of battery plants in Michigan and Ohio, and the production of rare earth elements and magnets in California and Texas.

White House economic adviser Lael Brainard highlighted the impact of consistent funding on the U.S. manufacturing sector, emphasizing that the grants will play a vital role in enhancing the extraction and processing of critical materials and components. Brainard also underscored the importance of decreasing dependency on China, which has dominated the market for processing rare elements, lithium, and gallium, while emerging as a major competitor in battery production for the United States.
