A man suspected of drunken driving crashed a stolen car and fled from sheriff's deputies in Clark County, Wash. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon when authorities received a report of a reckless driver in the area. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect, but he continued to drive at high speeds until he crashed the stolen vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot and was found hiding in a nearby neighborhood. Traces of drug use were found at the scene of the accident.

Swift action by sheriff's deputies and firefighters prevented further damage in this incident. The suspect's reckless driving could have resulted in serious injury or death. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, 2 persons were hurt in a two-vehicle collision in west downtown Portland. The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. near the Interstate 405 northbound exit on northwest Everett Street. Both cars sustained serious damage, but all 3 occupants managed to get out of the debris. Firefighters prompted one person to help him safely out of the vehicle. 2 persons were taken to the hospital by ambulance and are expected to recover. A fire department spokesman said that given the severity of the damage to the vehicles, the injuries could have been more serious or fatal. The ramp off Interstate 405 North at Northwest Everett Street will be closed while emergency responders deal with the accident and police investigate.
In both cases, fortunately, no one was seriously injured or killed. Careless driving and drunk driving can have catastrophic consequences, so it is important for drivers to prioritize safety on the road. Law enforcement is working tirelessly to prevent such incidents and protect public safety.
