A double homicide in the Multnomah neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, has left two men dead and the community in shock. The incident occurred in a mall parking garage in the 9100 block of Southwest Barbour Boulevard Wednesday morning, prompting a heightened police presence at the scene.

According to authorities, the 911 call about the shooting came in at 2:46 p.m., and seventeen police units arrived at the scene near JJ's Cafe. Witnesses described hearing shots and seeing people arguing before the shooting, and local business owners in the area said they initially mistook the shots for fireworks.
One man was detained for questioning in connection with the incident and police identified him as 21-year-old Jobanpreet Singh. Singh was taken to Multnomah County Jail on 2 counts of first-degree murder, and police said they were not looking for other suspects in the case.
Following the shooting, Barbour Boulevard was blocked off in both directions between Southwest 30th Avenue and Alice Street while homicide detectives investigated the scene. As a result of the tragic incident, area residents have come to their senses and are trying to come to terms with the loss of two members of their community.
