On a Friday night in southeast Portland, two teenagers were apprehended by the officer after a high-speed chase that ended with them running into a house. According to the Portland Police Bureau, the incident began when Focused Intervention Team officers tried to stop a car near Southeast Holgate Boulevard and Southeast 114th Avenue, but the driver sped away. The officers pursued the vehicle with the help of a K9 unit and the Gresham Police Department, and successfully used stop sticks to flatten the car's tires. The driver then turned down a dead-end street, and two individuals got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, while three others stayed inside. When officers searched the car, they found firearm magazines lying on the floor, raising concerns about potential danger to the community.

The police learned that the two suspects might be hiding in a home located in the 13500 block of Southeast Steele Street, and they set up a perimeter around the area. After speaking with someone inside the home on the phone, the two suspects eventually surrendered and were taken into custody. Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and discovered two AR pistols and other evidence, indicating that the suspects were likely involved in criminal activity.

The two teenagers, identified as 18-year-old Anthony Hunter, were charged with eluding on foot and interfering with a police officer. The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of following traffic regulations to prevent incidents and injuries. It also underscores the need for caution and cooperation when dealing with law enforcement to maintain safety and order in our communities.
