On Monday night, a catastrophic explosion rocked an oil production site in the Williston area. While the cause of the explosion has yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary investigations by the Williston Fire Department Assistant Chief Corey Johnston suggest that a lightning strike may have been the cause.
Fire units were immediately dispatched to the scene and confirmed that several storage tanks were ablaze. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the entire area in flames. Despite the overwhelming intensity of the fire, fire crews worked tirelessly to monitor the scene and surrounding area, and ultimately managed to bring the flames under control.
Residents living in the vicinity of the site were advised to turn off their HVAC systems if they noticed any smoke drifting in their direction. This was a precautionary measure meant to protect them from the harmful effects of smoke inhalation.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of any injuries resulting from the explosion. However, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of oil production sites and the potential risks associated with them. As such, the incident will likely spark a renewed push for increased safety measures and stricter regulations in the oil and gas industry.
