Can I take my hazmat endorsement test at the DMV before I get fingerprinted? I already did the ELDT course.

Yes, you can take the test before you get fingerprinted. But why would you do that? You’re just asking for trouble. What if you pass the test but fail the background check? Then you’ll have to take the test again. And pay for it again

No, you can’t take your hazmat endorsement test at the DMV before you get fingerprinted. You need to complete the TSA application online or by phone and get your fingerprints taken at an approved location before you can take the test.

t depends on when your hazmat endorsement expires. If it expires within 180 days, you can renew it by taking the test at the DMV before you get fingerprinted. If it expires in more than 180 days, you need to get fingerprinted first and wait for TSA approval before taking the test. You also need to complete an ELDT course every two years as part of your renewal process

Depends on the state. But if your state does the testing and license issuing in the same building, you might as well wait until after you get fingerprinted so you don’t have to go to the DMV twice.

Do you actually use load locks anymore? I stopped using them after about 4 months. I figured out if I don’t drive like an idiot everything stays in place just fine.

In the fast pace of life in big cities, many people spend a significant portion of their time in the car: behind the wheel, or as a passenger. Therefore, it seems logical to want to make this time as comfortable as possible. With a little effort, you can make even long trips, and travel by car can become comfortable. Perhaps one of the most common problems you may encounter on the road is the lack of 220-volt power, which means you can't use most of the usual appliances. You can charge your smartphone and other gadgets with a portable battery or from a car cigarette lighter

An inverter is a piece of equipment that converts a 12/24 volt DC input voltage into a 220-volt AC output voltage and a frequency of 50 Hz. With a voltage converter, you can get the electricity you need to run most household appliances.

You can plug an inverter into your cigarette lighter or a 12V auxiliary socket. If the gadgets you want to connect utilize less amperage than the cigarette lighter fuse is made to withstand, the inverter should work well. That often equals 10 to 15A. If you want more amperage than that, you will require a separate wiring arrangement.

What sort of inverter is compatible with a cigarette lighter? First, determine the size of the fuse in your cigarette lighter and how much amperage your device requires. If a device utilizes less amperage than the cigarette lighter circuit intended to support, the inverter should function properly.

These devices use about the same amount of current as an inverter for a cigarette lighter. However, you must first check the device's amperage rating to make sure the cigarette lighter inverter can handle it.

Particular attention must be paid to the installation process of the transducers. It should be a clean, dry location away from heat sources and hot air currents. It is also necessary to make sure that nothing is near the ventilation openings. The inverter must be properly connected to the vehicle mains, and its polarity must be taken into account. Incorrect wiring can at least blow a fuse, which is located on the inverter's input. At the most, such a mistake can lead to damage or complete burnout of your car's mains.

U can plug any size inverter into a cig cord, but you won’t get more than 120 watts of power from it1. That’s the limit of most cigarette lighters. If you want to run more stuff, you need to get a hardwired inverter that can handle more wattage.
Grayson

The largest inverter you can buy that will plug into a cig cord depends on the fuse rating of your cig socket.

You can’t run a lot of stuff with a cig cord inverter. The max power you can get from a cig socket is usually around 150W, which is not enough for your laptop, fridge, radio and phone. You need an inverter that connects directly to your battery with heavy-duty cables.

The question of whether several people can drive one load is very common. You probably want to buy one truck and start a family or friendly business. But is it possible? Let's figure it out.

Quite often, such a decision is due to the desire to earn more money and distribute the load among several people. This is some variant of team truck driving. The main condition here is that all members of the “team” have a driving license. Under this condition, they can take turns driving a truck or semi-trailer.

There are really more benefits here - more money, the opportunity to travel more, as well as pleasant company on the trip. However, do not forget that the registration device records the time traveled not by each of the drivers but not by each driver individually. So you still have to make stops according to the schedule.

If you are guided by the atmosphere while driving and pleasant conversations, then pay attention to the choice of a driving partner. If it's just your friend or colleague, then think about it many times. Trips can be long, and your driving style and behavior on the road may vary.

I once overlooked the windshield wipers during a pre trip inspection. I thought they were fine, but I was wrong. It started raining hard on the highway and I turned them on. They made a horrible screeching noise and left streaks on the glass. I couldn’t see anything and almost crashed into another truck. I had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop. It was a nightmare. Now I always check the windshield wipers before I hit the road 🤷‍♂️

I think one thing that is often overlooked is the fifth wheel and the kingpin. You should always make sure they are properly greased, locked, and secured. You should also check for any cracks, bends, or damage. A loose or broken fifth wheel or kingpin can cause a trailer separation and a serious accident.
