Eat healthy guys

https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/trucking-tips/healthy-food-for-truckers/

It’s got some good tips on what snacks to keep in your cab, like apples, oranges, etc.

I think this is important stuff, because we all know how hard it is to stay fit and healthy when we’re driving long hours and living out of our trucks. I’ve been trying to follow some of these suggestions, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s tough. Sometimes I just crave a burger and fries 🤪.

So I’m wondering if any of you have some more advice on how to eat healthy. What do you do to beat temptation?

Since I have learned that my cholesterol is high, I am trying to be more careful about my food. I don't buy ready-made food in cafes or parking lots (only when I'm super busy). Shop at supermarkets, read the ingredients carefully to avoid sugar.

Cook your meals at home. Vacuum seal them and then freeze them. Warm up your healthy meal and enjoy. You won't have to worry about cooking while on the road.

I always try to find at least 30 minutes to cook myself a meal. It is very important to add a lot of protein to your diet. Lately I am obsessed with salmon+ fresh salad add some chickpeas, avocado that's so yummy. Be careful with avocado cause of calories.

Try to avoid excessive sugar consumption, for example, I want to sleep terribly after sweets or high-calorie food. I always keep low-carb tortillas, canned tuna, vegetables, yogurt in stock. This is a great option for breakfast and lunch. If you don't like tuna, you can replace it with chicken or even meat.

I never liked cottage cheese before. But if you add a banana, nuts and a little honey or jam, it's incredibly delicious. Now I always buy several packages at once. You can freeze it if you need. By the way, the salty version is also excellent: cottage cheese + whole grain bread + cucumber + salmon.

You can eat tasty and cheap in a truck. The most important thing is to have a fridge to store food. You can always store food in containers or vacuum and use it when you need. When I feel a little hungry, I take a small plate and fill it up with snacks like cucumber, carrot sticks etc. Really low cal stuff.

Kenworth W900 my experience

I wanted to share my experience with Kenworth W900. I’ve been driving this Rig for over 10 years and I can tell you it’s one of the best trucks out there. It has a classic look that never goes out of style. The PACCAR engine is strong. The driver's seat is ergonomic, so my back is always relaxed. I don't know much about electric trucks, eg Tesla, but the W900 always does its job.

If you want to learn more about its functions, read here: https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/kenworth-w900-reviews/

Know your rights

I’ve been driving trucks for over 20 years, and I’ve seen some crazy stuff on the road. But nothing prepared me for what happened last year. A drunk driver hit me and died. His family was suing me and my employer. They claimed that I was negligent and that I caused the accident. They said that I was driving too fast, and that I violated the Hours of Service regulations. I know that many of us think that this will not happen to me, but don't be fooled, you should always be prepared for such things.

I want to share with you an article that I found here, it may help shed some light on your rights.

EPA and NOx emissions

have you seen this article about the EPA and their crazy emission standards? They want us to cut 90% of NOx emissions by 2031 and switch to electric trucks by 2040. What a bunch of nonsense!

I think all of these are based on faulty science and data. Electric trucks are a joke. They are expensive, unreliable, and impractical. They have limited range, long charging times, and low performance.

I do not know, maybe you have a different opinion, but this is mine

I’m Not Gonna Let Some Fancy Computer Take My Place

stumbled on article "autonomous trucks" and how they’re supposed to revolutionize the transportation industry. I gotta say, I’m not buying it.

I think these self driving trucks are a bad idea and a threat to our profession and way of life. I don’t want to trust them and I don’t want them on the roads. I’m a truck driver and proud of it. I’m not gonna let some fancy computer make decisions on the road.

The future of transport is gonna be interesting. Roads will be very safe once it’s all automated and managed by a central node that can plan every route , speed and direction to avoid or at least minimise congestion. But you can’t have human in the mix. We are way too random and chaotic.

Personally, I doubt the reliability of autonomous vehicle technologies, the systems can fail in the most inappropriate situations. Technological advances are threatening jobs right now. Many businesses are already practicing this in factories, stores, farmers replaced by automated machines. This technological war between countries will not lead to anything good.

Many people are worried only about losing their jobs. But in fact, the development of autonomous transport technologies will contribute to the creation of new jobs in the field of development and maintenance. That is, all the drivers who lost their jobs will be able to simply retrain and do maintenance.

I always see discussions on various forums about this topic. I think that fully autonomous vehicles in the near future is a pipe dream that will probably not happen in our lifetime. It's starting to look like the companies developing this technology haven't been able to deliver on their promises, and the investment funds are drying up.

The future is now! There are already automated trucks on the road in some European and I think Asian countries as well. They have limited use but the point is that just like so many other industries, they are looking to replace human workers for any number of reasons. Most of them financial.

I'm not a truck driver, but I really think autonomous trucks will make transportation a lot better. Self-driving cars have proven themselves to be substantially safer than human-driven vehicles. For examle: Tesla cars have been involved in just 6 fatal accidents over 2 billion miles driven on AutoPilot versus 12.5 fatal accidents per billion miles for human drivers.

We are far better than computers at jobs that require all senses or instincts. Unfortunately some people dont take this situation serious.

Don't worry too much about this right now, autonomous trucks are still in the testing process. But of course it will be very profitable for companies: the shipping from one city to another would be at a low cost and on time, because the trucks would be running 24 hours a day without stopping for gas or food.

Сompany developers are working hard because they see how much money they can make. But, in reality, the developers have never been in a truck and have no clue about what the job entails. I believe completely autonomous trucks with no driver will never run on public roads.

I hate this idea. I know the argument is that human drivers cause accidents, but it is BAD drivers cause accidents. So why not take the bad drivers off the road? If you have a bad driving record take their license and don’t let them drive!

Yes that is the goal. But it is still going to be a while before it fully takes place. The technology is here. But it is not 100 percent safe yet. The truck stops are already set up for them for fueling purposes. And they are being tested in the real world.

Come on, there is no reason for such panic. Professional truck drivers will retire, a few will pick other professions while they’re still young. This will happen organically, because autonomous vehicles won’t be the norm for all tasks starting now. They’ll take over the simple long haul routes first, then increasingly more complex city delivery ones. Truck drivers will still be around throughout, there will be just fewer of them.

It is obvious that a “self-driving” truck will need a driver. Even with all the sensors and technology in the world, it can’t really properly inspect itself. It can’t back up to a loading dock, and also it can’t fuel or recharge itself.

Personally, I don’t think it’s going to happen as soon as everyone is thinking or hoping. As a driver with a lot of experience, I know that my job is much more difficult than just driving a truck. The driver has to solve various problems on the roads or in warehouses, check and repair the truck’s faults, and so on.

AI is likely to replace truck drivers in the future, but i think human truck drivers will still be needed for some time. Autonomous trucks could be more efficient, safer, and less expensive to operate than standard ones. However, there are challenges that need to be addressed before AI can fully replace truck drivers. The timeline for the replacement of truck drivers by AI will depend on the development of AI technology, the cost of AI-powered trucks and the regulations.

Look. Have you ever thought about how many other professions have already disappeared or are on the verge of disappearing due to the development of technology? Of course, an autonomous truck can deliver cargo quickly and efficiently on the highway, but it's much more tricky on local roads. The driver can better navigate if there is ice on the roads or bad weather. I think it will take at least another 10 years to create the infrastructure and other conditions for this.
Umar

Usually if something is wrong with the truck, as a driver i can always get out and inspect the truck for some damage or leaking. Let's imagine that an autonomous truck has some kind of breakdown, the truck will simply stop driving, since there is no driver who could find the problem and solve it.

I think this topic does not need our comments. It will happen anyway, possibly in the very near future. How to Reduce Detention Time? Don’t Believe the Hype

ust read this article about how to reduce truck detention time and I gotta say, it’s a bunch of BS. First of all, they talk about communication like it’s some magic solution. Well, guess what? I communicate with the shippers and receivers all the time, and they still don’t give a damn about my schedule. They make me wait for hours, sometimes even days, and then they act like they’re doing me a favor by loading or unloading my truck.

And what’s this about staggering schedules? Are they kidding me? Do they think I have all the time in the world to pick up and deliver loads? Do they think I can just show up whenever I want and expect to be served? No, sir. I have to follow the appointment times that are given to me by the shippers and receivers, and they are usually very tight and inflexible.

cope with homesickness as a trucker

I've seen this article about coping with homesickness on the road and I gotta say it hit me right in the feels. I've been trucking for over 10 years now and I still miss my family and friends every time I hit the road.

I've seen this article about coping with homesickness on the road and I gotta say it hit me right in the feels. I've been trucking for over 10 years now and I still miss my family and friends every time I hit the road. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it, you know? All the long hours, the traffic, the crappy food, the loneliness. But then I remember why I do it: to provide for my loved ones and to see this beautiful country of ours.

The article gave some good tips on how to deal with homesickness, and it's worth for reading. We're lucky to have a job that lets us travel and see new places, even if it's hard sometimes. We're also part of a community of truckers who understand what we go through and who can support each other. So don't be afraid to reach out to your fellow drivers if you need a friendly ear or a helping hand. We're all in this together.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Stay safe out there and keep on trucking!

Fear of trucking

Newbie trucker here, and I gotta say, this job is kicking my ass. I've been on the road for a few months now and I've seen some crazy shit out there. From road rage to bad weather to mechanical breakdowns, it's a constant struggle to keep my cool and stay safe.

Newbie trucker here, and I gotta say, this job is kicking my ass. I've been on the road for a few months now and I've seen some crazy shit out there. From road rage to bad weather to mechanical breakdowns, it's a constant struggle to keep my cool and stay safe.

Today have been reading this article https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/fear-of-driving-personal-stories/ and I'm not gonna lie, though, I have some fears too. Like, what if I get into an accident or get pulled over by the cops? What if I get lost or run out of gas?

And they do get to me. They make me anxious, nervous, and stressed. They make me doubt myself and my abilities. But I don't want to give up. I want to overcome my fears and enjoy the ride.

So, that's my story so far. How about you guys? How long have you been trucking and what do you like or dislike about it? Any tips or advice for a rookie like me?

Listen. What you are going through is absolutely normal and understandable. I am sure that many people experience stress and anxiety during the first months. Driving a huge truck is not easy. You will encounter bad weather or shit roads more than once, and the truck may break down at any moment. You will gain experience, and after a while it will not seem like a problem to you.

When I first started, any strange sound from a truck would make me panic. It seemed to me that it would break down any minute, and I wouldn’t have time to deliver the cargo to its destination. It’s been 11 years now, and every time I get behind the wheel I feel a little nervous. Understand that even the most experienced driver can face many difficulties on the road.

Never stop learning, whether you've been doing the job for 20 days, 20 minutes or 20 years. If you ever feel unsafe in your work conditions, that could mean questionable whether or maybe you are feeling fatigued, it's going to cost you a lot less time to pull over and wait it out / take a 30 minute rest then it will to be cleaning your truck out when it's in the ditch.

Do not neglect good rest and regular exercise. After a month of active work, your back and neck will hurt like hell, even daily 10-minute exercises will help relieve tension. Frequent breaks at night will help to cope with drowsiness. Try to sleep at least 7 hours.

Try to eat no more than 3 times a day, although it will be difficult at first. I recommend you to spend some money on buying the necessary cooking utensils (a kettle, a small portable stove). Truck stops don't always have a good variety of healthy food, so you can cook yourself a meal at any time. Always keep quick snacks at truck, they will help out when there is absolutely no time for a full meal.

You just have to learn to deal with the challenges and risks. The best advice I can give you is to always be prepared. Check your truck before every trip, plan your route ahead of time, and have an emergency kit handy.

The key is to stay calm and confident. Don’t let the fear paralyze you or make you panic. Just trust yourself and your skills. And don’t forget to enjoy the ride. There’s a lot of beauty and wonder out there, if you just look for it.
